Twilight Wildlife Tours
Twilight Wildlife Tours has been specialising in small group wildlife tours of the Otago Peninsula since 1983. The tours start with a scenic bus journey from Dunedin city, continuing out along the Otago Peninsula.
The tour travels towards the Royal Albatross Colony at Taiaroa Head, passed spectacular coastal areas featuring a wide variety of birds including White-faced Herons, Pied Stilts, Black Swans, Variable and Pied Oystercatchers, Royal Spoonbills and Little Shags.

Visit The Aquarium on the Otago Peninsula. See stunning sea creatures such as octopus’s, seahorses, crayfish, sharks and much more. Stroke a spiny star-fish, smell the fresh salt air, sample the local sea-weed, and hear about the colourful history of New Zealand's oldest marine science institution.
The Aquarium is open daily between the hours 12-4:30pm. It also features guided tours running at 10:30am with alternative times available for groups on request.
Royal Albatross Centre
The Royal Albatross Centre is home to the majestic Royal Albatross. It is the only mainland breeding colony in the world for these birds. They stand up to a metre in height with a wingspan of up to 3 metres. Despite being somewhat awkward on the ground, in the air they are anything but, able to reach swooping speeds of at least 115kmph.
Otago Peninsula
Stretching east along the seaward edge of Dunedin’s harbour is the Otago Peninsula. Year round this is the home of some of the world’s rarest wildlife, which can be seen in its natural habitat.
Above the harbour entrance at the end of a beautiful drive is Taiaroa Head, the only mainland breeding colony of the royal albatross in the world.
Nearby you can get up close with the worlds rarest penguin, the yellow eye. On the secluded beaches there are also sea lions and their pups, fur seals, and blue penguins.
