Dunedin Profile
About halfway between the equator and the south pole Dunedin sits at 46 degrees south. For a population of close to one hundred thousand reaching 125,000 when all the students are here, Dunedin has more land space than any other city in the country, more than all but one other city in the world, over 3000 square kilometres.
We are proudly multicultural. International students from 70 countries are encouraged to make Dunedin their home while they study.
We enjoy the longest summer daylight hours in New Zealand. Temperatures regularly climb into the mid twenties and higher, long summer evenings are one of the cities great attractions.
In winter it sometimes snows, but not for long, for ours is a temperature climate and not one of extremes.
